My hair treatment recipes

As-salaam alaikum lovelies!!!

How are you doing today?

Knowing that I will be dropping my hair-care routine soon, I decided to include my DIY hair treatments as well. Remember that I'm no hairstylist, so a lot of these haven't been scientifically proven or properly tested. Also, some of these are inspired by a ton of YouTube videos and other research as well as trends.

Anyway, after getting the technical part out of the way, we can proceed into the post properly.

Treatments to be applied before washing hair.

1) Onion juice treatment

*Anti-dandruff treatment, should be used before washing hair, supports thick and strong hair promoting hair growth and preventing hair loss*

Recipe: One large onion
One fourth of a cup of water
              Two tablespoons of coconut oil

Directions: Chop the onion into small pieces and put them into a blender. Add in water. Blend until it's broken down. Pour the blended onion through a sieve or cheesecloth to separate the chunks from the juice. Discard the residue or use it to cook. Pour the onion juice into a bottle, preferably a spray bottle. Add the coconut oil into the bottle. Put the cap on and shake the bottle to combine. Spray onto damp hair and leave it on for a while. Rinse hair and wash hair and proceed with the rest of your routine.

Treatments to be applied after washing hair.

1) Henna and Honey treatment

Okay, so I tried this recently and here are the potential benefits.
*Anti-dandruff, hair-strengthening, Darkens the hair and conditions the hair as well.*

Recipe: Half a cup of conditioner
Half a cup of Henna (the powdered kind used for traditional henna application)
Half a cup of raw honey

Directions: Combine the henna and honey in a bowl until it's smooth-ish. Add the conditioner gradually and keep mixing it in. Remember to apply coconut oil to your edges before applying to avoid  staining the skin. Also, if you have light hair, this will tint and or darken the hair.

Apply to damp hair and leave for as long as 1 hour if possible and not longer than 3 hours. Also, insulate the hair by covering with a shower cap and also to reduce drips.

If you'd prefer, you can mix only the honey and henna without the conditioner but I do it with the conditioner to give it more volume and to also neutralize any possible unwanted reaction not that I have encountered any one.

Try to not add water because it can get really watery. It wasn't sticky and was easy to get out of the hair.

2) Coffee treatment

*Darkens the hair, promotes growth, leaves hair smelling nice.*

Recipe: One fourth of a cup of Coffee(instant coffee for easier application and removal)
One fourth of a cup of Coconut oil(liquid form for easier application)
Half a cup of Chilled Yoghurt( Greek yoghurt or any other unsweetened yoghurt)

Directions: Combine the coffee and coconut oil until completely dissolved. Add into the yoghurt and whisk it until fully combined. it will have a pale brown kind of colour. Apply to damp hair then wear a shower cap and let it sit for 30 minutes then rinse hair and condition like normal.

The first time I made this, I used ground, roasted coffee beans and the mixture was so coarse and the coffee was grainy and hard to get of the hair. One of the reasons why I prefer instant coffee.

Treatments to be applied as a leave-in.

1) Coconut and Shea treatment

*Keeps hair shiny and scalp moisturized*

Recipe: Quarter of a cup of Coconut oil
Quarter of a cup of Shea butter

Directions: Using a double boiler method to avoid scalding the oil. Place the oils in bowls and place the bowls on wide pots containing water.

Leave the water on low heat to slowly melt the oils. Once the oils are melted, gently take the bowls out and combine the two oils. Let cool until touch before applying to damp hair and scalp. Massage the oil blend into the scalp gently and gently apply to the hair strands as well. Dry hair and style as usual.

I use this like everyday so I always make in bulk.

Also, happy birthday Kamal🎉💟! Wishing you long life and prosperity. Enjoy your day and I still want to punch you😅.
Anyway, those recipes are just a couple of treatments I use randomly. I don't follow a particular routine depending on which treatment I feel I need. Thank you for reading and if you have any recommendations leave them in the comments' section below. Stay safe and Khuda hafeez!💓

Happy New Yearrrr🎉🎉🎉🎉

Assalam alaykum. My lovelies, it has been an amazing year of experiences, gratitude, turmoils and most importantly survival. I'm thankful that I have amazing friends and family and even frenemies. I have a gazillion *I'm not sure it's a word but okay whatever😂* things to be thankful for, people to be thankful to. I've had my rough patches and so have you all, the important thing here is that we pulled through. We survived. It's not just because of ourselves. Nope. Definitely not. We have people to be thankful to and thankful for. I'll start by thanking Almighty Allah fro granting me life throughout this year. In times where I believed I was going insane, you Ya Allah helped me pull through by showing, actually giving me love and support directly and indirectly. Thank you for everything. My wonderful family. My mother, father, sisters and other relatives. Thank you for bearing with me when I was acting my worst even though you had your own problems. Th...

Iftar post #1

Salaam alaikum everyone! Ramadan Kareem🤍!!! How are you all?   I’m fine and I would like to share one of my favorite recipes during Ramadan with you all. I know it’s Hausa name and it is called “ Kunun Gyada” . If I roughly translate it to English, It would mean Groundnut milk and rice gruel. Yes, the English meaning may not be appetizing but I promise that it is absolutely delicious. Warning: Not to be consumed by those with Peanut and peanut related allergies. I’m not sure of the dietary information. I’d recommend preparing this for iftar. For iftar, there’s usually a mini feast with multiple dishes from fruit salads to main dishes. So yeah, and if there are left overs you can have that for sahur bearing in mind that it’s actually quite light.   My mommy always made this for some of our iftars and I’ve loved them ever since. So I learnt the recipe and here it is. There are multiple ways to make this, I mean that there are different variat...
